I have decided to begin my foray into the Public Relations profession by analyzing Richard Edelman's personal blog. The URL is http://www.edelman.com/speak_up/blog/ .
As I have researched the PR profession I have found that the top independent PR firm in the world is Edelman (http://www.odwyerpr.com/), so what better way to start than to examine Richard's viewpoint on the current market.
Edelman does an annual market study involving 22 countries called The Edelman Trust Barometer. His Jan. 25 blog entry releases some of the results from this years study and his conclusions. The purpose of my first few blogs is to examine the findings of this study that particularly interested me. The URL once again is, http://www.edelman.com/speak_up/blog/ .
The Edelman Trust Barometer found that China is in the top category for trust in business but in the lower tier for trust in business headquarters. On the other side of the coin the US is among the highest for trust in business headquarters but in the middle tier for trust in US businesses as a whole.
My conclusion drawn from this is that even though the US has recently had, and some may argue is still in, a recession, the trust in America as a whole has prevented many foreign trade partners to "abandon ship." This also emphasizes the importance of PR professionals' foreign relations with the Chinese. Overall, very interesting stuff.
